Aston Martin Stays Committed to Traditional Dealer Model, Avoids Agency Setup

Aston Martin, the iconic luxury car manufacturer, is standing firm in its commitment to the traditional dealer model. In a recent statement, Alex Long, the director of product and strategy at Aston Martin, emphasized the importance of maintaining the traditional franchise model over switching to an agency setup. Long expressed concerns that an agency model would essentially turn dealerships into mere ‘prep centres’, where cars are handed over without the personalized service and care that customers expect.

During the launch of the new Vantage in Seville, Spain, Long reiterated the brand’s dedication to physical facilities and the crucial role that local dealers play in the customer journey. He highlighted the recent establishment of a new ‘Q’ site in New York, where customers can experience a higher level of customization for their cars. Despite these additional offerings, Long emphasized that the relationship with the local dealer remains paramount, as they provide essential aftersales and service support.

Despite recent financial challenges, including a significant increase in pre-tax losses, Aston Martin remains optimistic about the future. Long reassured the dealer network that growth is on the horizon, with 2025 projected to be a pivotal year for the brand. As the company transitions from a high investment phase to an execution phase, Aston Martin is focused on streamlining its production process and expanding its workforce.

In line with its expansion plans, Aston Martin recently welcomed 400 new recruits at its Gaydon headquarters, signaling a commitment to growth and innovation. With a renewed focus on generating cash and increasing production volume, Aston Martin is poised for a successful future.

Overall, Aston Martin’s dedication to the traditional dealer model, combined with its strategic growth initiatives, positions the brand for continued success in the luxury automotive market. Customers can expect the same level of excellence and personalized service that has defined Aston Martin for generations.
