Hedin Automotive to Rebrand Stephen James Group in Global Corporate Shake-Up
The Stephen James Group is undergoing a major transformation as it is rebranded as Hedin Automotive, as announced today. This move is part of a larger global corporate shake-up by the Swedish dealership outfit, following its acquisition of the UK dealership chain last summer. With this acquisition, Hedin Automotive now controls five BMW sites and three Mini showrooms within the Greater London area.
Hedin Mobility Group, established nearly 40 years ago, has grown to become one of Europe’s largest car dealers. Today, the group announced the consolidation of its retail division under the brand name Hedin Automotive. This rebranding effort will see dealerships in multiple countries dropping their individual identities to unify under the Hedin Automotive brand.
The group’s worldwide dealership network spans 14 countries and boasts over 330 sites representing more than 40 brands. Despite this consolidation, Hedin’s Carstore used vehicles brand will continue to operate alongside Hedin Automotive.
Anders Hedin, CEO of Hedin Mobility Group, expressed excitement about the rebranding, stating, “As we continue to grow, we want to do it together, unified under a common brand, with shared values, a common vision, and a strong focus on what matters most – our customers.” The Hedin Automotive logo will also be updated to reflect the new consolidated operations.
In the past year, Hedin saw a significant increase in net sales, reaching 81.7bn kroner (approximately £6bn), a 56% rise from the previous year. Despite this growth, the group experienced a 60% pre-tax profit decrease.
This rebranding effort signifies a new chapter for the Stephen James Group as it transitions to Hedin Automotive, aligning with the larger vision and values of the Hedin Mobility Group. Stay tuned for more updates as the group completes this transition in the early part of 2025.
