Bramble Energy Accelerates Transition to Net-Zero Automotive Industry with Fuel Cell Technology

In a world where the automotive industry is rapidly shifting towards electrification and sustainability, Bramble Energy is leading the way with its innovative hydrogen fuel cell technology. The recent completion of a project funded by the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC)’s Scale-up Readiness Validation (SuRV) program is a significant milestone in Bramble Energy’s journey towards accelerating the transition to a net-zero automotive industry in the UK.

The success of the project, which aimed to develop an optimized fuel cell stack assembly capable of producing up to 2,000 50kW stacks per year, showcases Bramble Energy’s commitment to advancing fuel cell technology. The company’s Printed Circuit Board Fuel Cell (PCBFC) technology, which simplifies the fuel cell stack assembly process, is at the core of this achievement. By integrating the membrane electrode assembly into unitized PCB modules, Bramble Energy has not only streamlined production but also paved the way for achieving a low-cost production target of US$100/kW (£80/kW).

In addition to the SuRV project, Bramble Energy has also secured funding for the deployment of fuel cell technology in a hydrogen-powered double-deck bus as part of the Hydrogen Electric Integrated Drivetrain Initiative (HEIDI). This initiative, supported by partners such as Equipmake, Aeristech, and the University of Bath, received significant funding from the APC and industry contributions, further solidifying Bramble Energy’s position as a key player in the transition to sustainable transportation solutions.

Dr. Tom Mason, CEO of Bramble Energy, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing clean, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for the automotive and public transport industries. With the UK government’s goal to end new petrol and diesel car sales by 2035, Bramble Energy’s focus extends beyond this deadline as they work towards creating commercially viable solutions for the wider transportation sector. The hydrogen-powered double-deck bus demonstrator developed as part of the HEIDI project is a testament to Bramble Energy’s dedication to driving real-world change in the automotive industry.

As Bramble Energy continues to push the boundaries of hydrogen fuel cell technology, their efforts are not only shaping the future of transportation but also contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly automotive industry. With projects like SuRV and HEIDI paving the way for innovation and progress, Bramble Energy is undoubtedly a key player in the electrified automotive industry of the future.
