JLR Celebrates Record Sales Figures and Enters ‘Exciting’ New Phase
The automotive industry is buzzing with excitement as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announces its highest ever annual sales figures. The West Midlands-based company has reported record-breaking revenues of £29bn for the 2023-2024 financial year, marking a significant increase of over 25% from the previous year.
One of the key drivers behind this impressive performance is the surge in demand for luxury vehicles, particularly the iconic Range Rover models. The introduction of the new Range Rover Electric has been a game-changer, with a staggering waiting list of 28,700 eager customers. In total, JLR received orders for around 133,000 vehicles, with three quarters of them being for Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Land Rover Defender models.
Not only did the company achieve record sales figures, but it also saw a substantial increase in pre-tax profit, reaching £2.2bn – the highest amount since 2015. This success can be attributed to higher sales volumes and a reduction in material costs, thanks to a favorable economic environment with easing inflation rates.
Furthermore, JLR is making significant strides in the electrification space, creating around 950 new jobs dedicated to EV production. The company’s parent company, Tata, is also investing in the future of electric vehicles by building a £4bn battery factory in Bridgewater, Somerset. This project is expected to generate thousands of jobs and boost the production of electric cars in the UK.
In addition to its mainstream models, JLR has also found success in the luxury market, selling 20 bespoke versions of the Range Rover SV exclusively in the Middle East for a hefty price tag of £330,000 each.
Looking ahead, Adrian Mardell, the group’s chief executive, expressed his enthusiasm for the future, stating, “We are entering the next exciting phase of our Reimagine strategy which will see us bring to life our modern luxury electric vehicles and deliver an accompanying modern luxury experience for our clients.” With a clear vision and a strong performance behind them, JLR is poised to continue its success and tackle the challenges of the future head-on.
