MG Unveils New HS Model at Goodwood Festival of Speed: A Preview of What’s to Come
The excitement is building as MG prepares to unveil the new HS at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 11-14 July. The announcement, made by Guy Pigounakis, MG UK Sales Director, to Automotive News Europe, has sparked anticipation among car enthusiasts and MG fans alike.
According to Pigounakis, the new HS will feature a completely different design from the current model, while still offering non-electrified petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The plug-in hybrid version is expected to have a larger battery pack, potentially doubling the current electric range to over 60 miles. With new electric motors, the total power output could exceed the current 258 PS.
While details about the petrol version have not been revealed, it is speculated that it may retain the 1.5-litre turbo engine with improvements for better efficiency. Despite the upgrades, prices are expected to remain competitive, starting at around £25,000 for the petrol model and £34,000 for the plug-in hybrid version.
The new HS will be showcased at the Festival of Speed as part of MG’s 100th-anniversary celebration. Founded in the UK in 1924 by William Morris as Morris Garages, MG has come a long way and continues to be a popular choice for car buyers.
The HS is currently MG’s second best-selling model in Europe, following the ZS SUV. With strong sales figures and a growing market presence, MG aims to surpass 300,000 units in Europe by 2024, building on the success of 2023.
As the automotive world eagerly awaits the unveiling of the new HS at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, MG continues to make waves in the industry with its innovative designs and commitment to excellence. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model from MG.
