Top-Selling Cars of 2024: Ford Puma Leads the Pack
As we approach the halfway mark of 2024, the list of the nation’s best-selling motors is shaping up to look very similar to the end of 2023. The Ford Puma continues to hold the top spot, with Kia’s Sportage climbing the ranks to sit in second place.
Last year saw 1.9 million new cars registered, with the Ford Puma taking the crown as the UK’s best-seller. This marked the first time a Ford had claimed the top spot since the Fiesta’s reign ended in 2020. According to SMMT data, Ford has already shipped out an impressive 23,205 Pumas, outselling even the popular Transit and Transit Custom vans.
The Kia Sportage, which finished fourth in 2023, has made a strong comeback to claim the second spot in 2024. The Nissan Qashqai, a perennial favorite known for its practicality, rounds off the top three.
While SUVs continue to dominate the market, the Audi A3 has made a surprising appearance in fourth place. Its compact yet roomy interior has won over buyers, outselling even the VW Golf, which sits in fifth place.
As we look ahead to the rest of the year, the VW Golf is expected to see a surge in sales thanks to a new facelift and a powerful GTI iteration. Rounding off the top nine are the Nissan Juke, BMW 1 Series, MG HS, and Volkswagen T-Roc.
The Vauxhall Corsa, a consistent performer, holds the tenth spot on the list. Despite briefly holding the title of the country’s cheapest EV, it has since been surpassed by competitors like Dacia.
In the ever-evolving world of automotive trends, it’s clear that some models continue to stand the test of time while others make surprising comebacks. With the year only halfway through, it will be interesting to see how the rankings shift in the months to come. Stay tuned for more updates on the UK’s most popular motors of 2024.
