Manufacturers in the North West Optimistic About Second Half of 2024
The manufacturing sector in the North West is showing promising signs of growth and optimism as we head into the second half of the year. According to the Q2 Manufacturing Outlook survey by Make UK, output and orders have significantly increased compared to the first quarter, with expectations of further strengthening in the coming months.
One of the key drivers of this growth is the automotive and aerospace sectors, which are ramping up production in the region. The pharmaceutical sector is also performing well, contributing to the positive outlook for manufacturers in the North West.
Business confidence is at its highest level since the survey began in 2014, reflecting the positive sentiment among manufacturers. In addition, job prospects are looking strong, with increased recruitment intentions compared to historical levels.
Manufacturers in the North West have outlined their top priorities for the next government, including the need for an industrial strategy, stronger EU/UK relations, and a reduction in the business tax burden. Other priorities include investment in national infrastructure and reforming the Apprentice Levy.
Make UK is forecasting continued growth for the manufacturing sector in 2024, with a slight slowdown expected in 2025. GDP is also expected to grow, indicating a positive economic outlook for the region.
