France Travel Warning: UK Tourists Face £155 Fine for Driving Petrol and Diesel Cars
Are you planning a trip to France soon? If so, you may want to take note of the latest travel warning issued to UK tourists and holidaymakers. Starting this year, drivers of petrol and diesel cars in France will be required to display Crit’Air stickers on their vehicles to show the pollution output based on the Euro emissions standard.
Failure to comply with this new regulation could result in a hefty £155 fine for drivers. The stickers, which cost just €3.72 (£3.20), can be easily ordered on the French Government website. These stickers come in different categories, ranging from zero emission electric and hydrogen vehicles to Euro 2 diesel vehicles.
The French government introduced these ‘clean air’ windscreen stickers in an effort to improve air quality in its cities. Vehicles that do not meet the emissions standards will not be allowed to drive or park in restricted traffic zones. It’s important to note that older vehicles, such as those registered before January 1997 for cars and before June 2000 for motorbikes and scooters, are ineligible for the stickers and cannot be driven in restricted areas.
So, if you’re planning a road trip to France, make sure to order your Crit’Air sticker in advance to avoid any fines or restrictions. Stay informed and enjoy your travels responsibly!
