Surge in Interest for Chinese Manufacturer’s Electric Vehicles at Euro 2024 Matches

The buzz around electric vehicles has been steadily growing in recent years, with more and more people looking to make the switch to a more sustainable mode of transportation. And now, it seems that interest in electric vehicles built by Chinese manufacturer BYD has reached new heights, thanks to their advertising at Euro 2024 matches.

According to figures from online vehicle marketplace Auto Trader, views of adverts for new and used BYD models have surged during the tournament, with a 33% increase compared to the previous month. This spike in interest can be attributed to BYD’s prominent advertising slots on electronic scrolling pitchside boards at the matches in Germany, which have been broadcast on free-to-air television in the UK.

The exposure that BYD has received during Euro 2024 matches, including England’s semi-final victory, has undoubtedly played a significant role in boosting awareness of the brand. With millions of UK television viewers tuning in to watch the games, BYD has been able to showcase their electric vehicles to a wide audience.

Auto Trader editorial director Erin Baker noted that the increased traffic on their website during the tournament indicates a growing awareness of BYD in the UK market. Despite facing tough competition from well-established legacy brands in Europe, BYD’s sales are on the rise, and their partnership with Euro 2024 is helping to solidify their presence in the public consciousness.

The Seal, a BYD saloon car, has been the standout model in terms of advert views on Auto Trader during Euro 2024, further highlighting the growing interest in BYD vehicles. While the European Commission’s proposed tariffs on BYD vehicles may pose a challenge, it’s clear that the Chinese manufacturer is making a name for itself in the electric vehicle market.

As more people tune in to watch the final match on Sunday, interest in BYD models is expected to continue to increase. With their eye-catching advertising and innovative electric vehicles, BYD is proving to be a major player in the evolving world of sustainable transportation.
