Introducing the Kalmar 9X9: A Tribute to the Porsche 911 with a Retro-Hypercar Twist
Are you a fan of high-performance sports cars? If so, the Kalmar 9X9 might just be the car of your dreams. This limited edition vehicle takes the already impressive Porsche 911 Carrera GTS to a whole new level, offering a lightweight and powerful driving experience that is sure to thrill any enthusiast.
The 9X9 Sport variant boasts a 641bhp 3-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine derived from the 992 Carrera GTS, paired with a seven-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive. With a focus on reducing weight and enhancing the driving dynamics, this model promises a more engaging driving experience than the standard car. Plus, buyers have the option to remove airbags for a more track-focused setup.
For those seeking the ultimate lightweight performance, the Leichtbau (Lightweight) variant is the way to go. With a claimed kerb weight of just 1250kg, this model is lighter than even the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S. Turbocharging is ditched in favor of the 992 GT3’s high-revving naturally-aspirated 4-litre flat-six, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The carbonfibre bodywork, inspired by the iconic 959, not only gives the 9X9 a unique look but also contributes to a claimed 1450kg of peak downforce.
Inside the cabin, the 9X9 combines digital displays with analogue dials for a modern yet classic feel. Comfort equipment has been stripped back to reduce weight, with even the navigation system and radio removed for a more focused driving experience. Bluetooth connectivity remains for phone calls and media playback, while lightweight seats and a hidden integrated roll cage add to the track-ready vibe.
With only 27 units (nine of each iteration) available, the Kalmar 9X9 is a rare and exclusive vehicle that is sure to turn heads wherever it goes. If you’re interested in owning one of these incredible machines, now is the time to place your order. The first customer cars are set to hit the road in July 2025, with each UK example being sold through DK Engineering.
Jan Kalmar, Founder of Kalmar Automotive, describes the 9X9 as a tribute to one of the greatest road-going sports cars of the millennia, enhanced to the highest possible degree with modern technology. This retro-hyper-car is truly a one-of-a-kind creation that is sure to impress even the most discerning automotive enthusiasts.
