July Sees 7% Jump in Used Car Sales for Top 200 Dealers in the UK
With the ongoing challenges in the automotive industry due to the pandemic, the recent surge in used car sales in the UK is a positive sign for dealers and buyers alike. According to data from CarCondor.co.uk, the Top 200 most stocked dealers in the country saw a significant increase in sales last month, with a 7.52% rise in used car sales compared to June.
This uptick in sales marks a sharp turnaround from the previous months, where dealers experienced declines in the sales of second-hand cars. The total revenue generated from used car sales in July reached £3.46bn, showing an 8.43% increase from the previous month.
Interestingly, new stock also saw a notable increase of 8.39% to 176,152 cars as dealers prepared for the traditional August summer slowdown. Sales across all dealer types rose by 7.44%, with independent dealers leading the way with an 8% growth, followed by franchise dealers at 7.96% and supermarkets at 5.05%.
Among the Top 200 dealers, Arnold Clark maintained its position as the most stocked dealer, with an average inventory of 17,196 cars in June. Sytner and Marshall followed closely behind, with Cinch and Evans Halshaw rounding out the top five.
