New Ultra-Rapid Car Charging Point Installed in Herefordshire’s Broad Street Car Park

Are you tired of waiting hours for your electric vehicle to charge up? Well, Herefordshire has some exciting news for you! A new ultra-rapid car charging point has been installed in Leominster’s Broad Street car park, allowing drivers to charge their cars in just half an hour.

This new charging point includes two 22kW fast-charge points and one 100kW ultra-rapid charge point, making it the first of its kind in a council car park in the county. With each charge point serving two dedicated parking bays, drivers can now recharge their car batteries in around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the vehicle model.

But that’s not all – the Broad Street car park also offers a 50kW charger, making it a go-to destination for EV charging in Herefordshire. And the best part? You can get a free 30-minute parking ticket to display in your electric or hybrid vehicle while you charge up. The electricity at these charge points is subject to a fee, with fast chargers costing 42p/kWh and ultra-rapids costing 75p/kWh for a recharge.

Councillor Philip Price emphasized the importance of easier access to charging infrastructure in supporting the switch to electric vehicles. He highlighted the role of Herefordshire Council in meeting the growing demand for EV charging infrastructure and its contribution to tackling climate change.

Gustavo Prince, UK country manager at Wenea, expressed excitement about enhancing the charging infrastructure in Herefordshire and providing accessible and convenient charging solutions for all drivers. With more chargers in the pipeline, the county is on its way to leading the transition to sustainable mobility.

So, if you’re an electric vehicle driver in Herefordshire, make sure to check out the new ultra-rapid car charging point in Leominster’s Broad Street car park. For more information on EV charge points, charging locations, and guidance on using them, visit the electric vehicle charging pages on the council’s website. Happy charging!
