JLR Dealers to Stop Selling New Jaguars in 2025 as Brand Shifts to Luxury Pure-Electric Focus
The automotive world is abuzz with the recent announcement from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) that they will be scrapping Jaguar’s entire range in 2025 to reposition the brand as a luxury pure-electric brand. This bold move will see JLR dealers not selling any new Jaguars for most of 2025, as the British carmaker shifts its focus towards electric vehicles.
Earlier this year, JLR ended production of the XE and XF saloons, as well as the F-Type sports car. In July, they confirmed the axing of the E-Pace small SUV by the end of 2024. Even the I-Pace, Jaguar’s sole electric model, will be cut to boost the brand’s profits. This means that the F-Pace will be the only model leading Jaguar dealers into 2025.
The F-Pace is currently Jaguar’s best-seller, accounting for a third of Jaguar’s total sales. However, Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover revealed in an interview with Autocar that new Jaguar vehicles will no longer be on sale in specific European markets by the end of 2024, with the UK to follow suit in early 2025. This means that there will be a period where you will not be able to buy a Jaguar.
Jaguar’s first electric vehicle under its reimagined focus will be a luxury four-door electric GT. This model is expected to have a powerful dual-motor powertrain, a range of over 435 miles, and a price tag of £100,000. The new GT will be revealed in December 2025 but won’t go on sale until 2026, leaving a gap in new car sales for most of the year.
Glover also mentioned that JLR has chosen the US as the location to unveil the GT in December, emphasizing the importance of the global market for the brand. It will be two more years before Jaguar’s single model range is expanded to include a Bentley Bentayga-rivalling SUV and a large four-door saloon to compete with the Bentley Flying Spur, both expected to be in JLR showrooms in 2028.
During the transition period between the deletion of the F-Pace and the arrival of the new electric GT, JLR dealers will be focusing on used cars and aftersales. This strategic move by JLR marks a significant shift towards a more sustainable and luxury-focused future for the Jaguar brand. Stay tuned for more updates on Jaguar’s electrifying transformation in the coming years.
