Merthyr Tydfil Business Secures Finance Package to Expand into Automotive Technology Sector

The automotive industry is constantly evolving with new technologies and advancements, and one Merthyr Tydfil business is leading the way in embracing these changes. Screen Genie, based on Pant Industrial Estate, has recently secured a finance package through the Investment Fund for Wales, allowing them to invest in staff training to deliver cutting-edge technology that could potentially save drivers thousands of pounds.

Director Matt O’Keefe saw an opportunity for business growth beyond traditional windscreen repairs when he noticed the increasing prevalence of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) in modern vehicles. With the support of the finance package, Screen Genie has been able to train all four members of staff to the highest ADAS accreditation, enabling them to provide a full recalibration service for vehicles.

The importance of maintaining ADAS systems in vehicles is often overlooked by drivers, with many unaware that failing to recalibrate their systems after maintenance work could invalidate their insurance. By investing in staff training and technology, Screen Genie is not only ensuring the safety of drivers on the road but also positioning themselves as a leader in ADAS maintenance in Wales.

The partnership with BCRS Business Loans and the Investment Fund for Wales has been instrumental in Screen Genie’s growth and success. Niki Haggerty-James, Business Development Manager at BCRS Business Loans, emphasized the importance of supporting businesses like Screen Genie in achieving their growth plans and accessing finance through non-traditional routes.

The Investment Fund for Wales, backed by the British Business Bank, aims to support businesses in scaling and growing, like Screen Genie. With a range of finance options available, including loans and equity investments, small and medium-sized businesses in Wales have the opportunity to start up, scale up, or stay ahead in their industries.

Screen Genie’s story is a testament to the power of innovation, investment in staff training, and strategic partnerships in driving business growth and success. As they continue to expand their services and take on more staff, Screen Genie is poised to make a significant impact in the automotive industry in Wales and beyond.
