Lamborghini CEO aims to sell 10,000 cars in 2023 as profit and revenues rise
Are you a fan of luxury sports cars? If so, you’ll be excited to hear that Lamborghini is on track to sell 10,000 cars this year for the first time ever! In a recent report, the Italian brand, owned by Volkswagen, announced a rise in profit and revenues for the first half of the year.
With 5,341 cars sold between January and June, up 4.9% from the same period last year, Lamborghini is seeing strong demand from wealthy car enthusiasts. The United States was the largest market for the brand, with 1,625 deliveries.
CEO Stephan Winkelmann expressed confidence in reaching the 10,000 car milestone, citing the success of the Urus SUV, which has been a key driver of growth for the company. In fact, Lamborghini delivered over 9,200 vehicles in 2022, and is now setting its sights on expanding its lineup with hybrid and electric models.
In a strategic move towards sustainability, Lamborghini is investing 1.9 billion euros in shifting towards hybrid and electric cars by 2027. The company recently unveiled its first plug-in hybrid model, the Revuelto, and plans to introduce a fully-electric model in 2028.
Winkelmann emphasized the importance of timing and market readiness in the transition to electric vehicles, stating that Lamborghini will continue to monitor regulations and consumer preferences to make informed decisions about future models.
For fans of the brand, the prospect of a fully-electric Lamborghini is certainly exciting. Stay tuned for more updates on the brand’s electrification journey and upcoming models. Who knows, you might just see a battery-powered Urus cruising down the road in the near future!
