Prince Edward Island to Install 27 New Fast-Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles by Fall 2025
Are you considering switching to an electric or hybrid vehicle? Well, if you live in Prince Edward Island, you’re in luck! The province is set to have 27 new fast-charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles by the fall of next year, thanks to a $1.4 million investment from the federal government.
This exciting news was announced by Charlottetown MP Sean Casey and P.E.I. Environment Minister Murnaghan during a news conference in Wood Islands. The goal is to have all 27 Level 3 chargers installed by September 2025, with the federal government aiming to install 42,000 charging stations across the country to support the shift to electric vehicles.
But why should you consider making the switch to an electric vehicle? According to a news release, EVs are typically cheaper to run due to the low cost of refueling and maintenance. Additionally, the widespread adoption of electric vehicles creates manufacturing jobs across Canada, contributing to a more sustainable future for all Canadians.
The P.E.I. government is also investing in an incentive program to support the adoption of electric vehicles, with a goal of making the Island carbon-neutral by 2040. With a dozen Level 3 fast chargers already in place across the Island, drivers can enjoy an 80% charge in just 20 to 30 minutes, making it easier than ever to drive an electric vehicle in P.E.I.
So, if you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint and save money on fuel costs, now is the perfect time to consider making the switch to an electric or hybrid vehicle. With the support of the federal and provincial governments, Prince Edward Island is well on its way to becoming the most EV-friendly province in the country.
