Supercars Fined for Breaking London’s Noise Laws: Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches Among Offenders

Are you a fan of supercars? Do you dream of seeing Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches up close and personal? Well, London might just be the place for you! In the upscale neighborhoods of Knightsbridge, Mayfair, and Kensington, supercars are a common sight on the streets. However, not all drivers are following the rules, and some have found themselves in trouble with the authorities.

Three years ago, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council installed noise cameras in hotspots after receiving numerous complaints from residents about the excessive noise created by some supercar drivers. Since then, 683 drivers have been fined for exceeding the legal noise level, resulting in almost £70,000 in fines. Among the offenders were 110 Lamborghinis, 51 Ferraris, 39 Porsches, 12 Aston Martins, and three Bentleys, as well as many other luxury cars.

The fines for breaking the noise laws are £100 ($126), and repeat offenders risk having their cars seized. The council believes that the scheme is working, as they have seen a decrease in repeat offenders. They emphasize that fines are also issued for anti-social driving behaviors such as racing, revving engines, and performing stunts.

For car enthusiasts like Kyan Foster, spotting supercars in London is a thrilling experience. Foster spends his weekends hunting for these high-end vehicles to feature on his popular Instagram page, which has over 10,000 followers. He recommends checking out The Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge and Mayfair for the best chance of spotting these exotic cars.

While some residents appreciate the beauty of these supercars, others have been plagued by the noise they create. Caryl Harris, Chair of South Kensington and Queen’s Gate Residents’ Association, has been dealing with noisy cars near Harrods for years. She and other residents have requested more acoustic cameras to be installed and are calling for increased fines for offenders.

Overall, the installation of noise cameras in London has made a positive impact on reducing excessive noise pollution caused by supercars. Residents and officials alike are hopeful that this technology will continue to be effective in maintaining peace and quiet in the city. So, if you’re a supercar enthusiast planning a trip to London, keep your eyes peeled for these luxury vehicles, but remember to respect the rules of the road and the peace of the residents.
